MLB postponed the Chicago White Sox series finale with the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday. The news broke shortly before first pitch was scheduled. There appears to be a mild outbreak of COVID-19 in the Guardians organization.
There were multiple positive tests within the Cleveland clubhouse but no details on who tested positive have been released. Since this game was the final in the three-game series, MLB has not offered a potential rescheduled date.
This is the second White Sox game MLB postponed against the Cleveland Guardians in 2022. That specific game was rescheduled for July 12 and the White Sox will already play 18 games in 17 days before the All-Star break.
The series with the Cleveland Guardians has been wild to say the least. The Chicago White Sox pitching has been stellar but can only take them so far. To say the White Sox schedule is difficult is putting it nicely at this point. The multiple postponed games for the White Sox do not help either, especially if MLB reschedules them within a long stretch without a day off.
But with injured players like Joe Kelly returning and the eventual comeback of Lance Lynn, the White Sox may fare better than expected. The White Sox continue defending their home turf tomorrow when they start a four-game series with the New York Yankees.
