Chicago Blackhawks’ top prospect Lukas Reichel will play a bit more hockey before the summer months. The 20-year-old forward has joined Team Germany’s roster for the 2022 IIHF World Championship.
The 2020 first-round draft pick split time between the NHL and AHL levels during the 2021-22 season.
Reichel recorded one assist in 11 games for the Chicago Blackhawks and led the IceHogs with 57 points (21 goals, 36 assists) across 56 AHL contests. His stateside campaign concluded Sunday when the Rockford IceHogs’ Calder Cup Playoff run came to an end at the hands of the Chicago Wolves.
Lukas Reichel joins Team Germany in the midst of IIHF Worlds group play. His home country’s team is 2-1 and ranks fourth in Group A with six points. Reichel and the Germans have four more group-play games on the schedule over the next week.
