Well Chicago, he loves us. DeMar DeRozan really loves Chicago.
In an interview with former teammate and current Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay, DeRozan stated that it was amazing playing for the Bulls. Gay referred to Chicago as DeRozan’s new home.
“There were a lot of moments that were completely surreal,” DeRozan said of “MVP” chants from Bulls fans throughout the season. “This is the same arena that Michael Jordan was in.”
Most importantly, he said all of his teammates were incredible to play with and made it fun to come to work.
“For the first time being the oldest player on the team, it was new for me. But in all honesty, those guys made it simple. Lonzo, Zach — all those guys were incredibly great teammates. They made it easy.”
The five-time All-Star is coming off a career year after a fresh start in Chicago. DeRozan recorded career-highs in points per game (27.9) and three-point percentage (35.2%).
The city of Chicago should feel blessed to have someone who loves the Windy City so much. Over the years, Chicago has not been a sexy place for superstars to come play. However, with DeMar DeRozan making some noise, it may entice more players to want to play for the Bulls.
