He is at it again people. LaVar Ball has some things to say about several Chicago Bulls’ offseason hot topics.
In a one-on-one interview with David Kaplan, LaVar Ball stated that his son and current Bulls guard Lonzo Ball is fine. LaVar was addressing reports that emerged Monday indicating the Bulls were concerned about Lonzo’s knee.
“He should be ready for the season,” LaVar said regarding his son’s status. “He won’t need another surgery. He is going to be out in LA training.”
Kaplan asked Ball which players the Bulls need to win a championship — hinting they need shooters in the same breath — outside of a healthy Lonzo Ball. LaVar then suggested Chicago acquires the greatest shooter ever (in his totally unbiased view), his middle child LiAngelo Ball.
“Trust me when I tell you that boy shoot the lights out that ball,” said LaVar.
Now, is this just LaVar Ball covering for his son, or do his words hold true? When it comes to his kids, LaVar has, for the most part, generally led us in the right direction. Outside of LiAngelo’s career not panning out in the NBA, most of what he has said regarding his offspring has been right.
Later in the interview, Kaplan asked Ball if he believes Zach LaVine will stay with the Chicago Bulls.
“He’s gone,” said LaVar. “It started off Zach LaVine, Zach LaVine, Zach LaVine, then you’re hurt, few things happen. Guess who’s doing all the big play? All I’m hearing is DeMar [DeRozan].”
LaVar believes LaVine wants to go back home to the West Coast. However, the Bulls can offer LaVine the most money and term in free agency.
Regardless, this LaVar Ball interview will only add to the madness that is the NBA offseason.
