For those in the Chicagoland area on Saturday, it’s a classic rainy, spring day. However, as of now the Chicago Cubs and Arizona Diamondbacks game has been delayed due to weather. In addition, there are no further updates.
Worth noting, the game has not been postponed yet. The Cubs and the league are likely holding out hope in case there is a window to play. However, the forecast indicates that rain is expected for most of the day with little window to play.
The Cubs likely don’t want a doubleheader to be played on Sunday. Chicago already has a scheduled doubleheader with the Milwaukee Brewers on Memorial Day, and the following Saturday, June 4. June 4’s doubleheader is against the dreaded St. Louis Cardinals at Wrigley Field.
We’ll update this article as more information begins available. As of now, it appears the intention is for the game to be played today. Otherwise, there is a chance of a doubleheader on Sunday.
UDPATE: As of the 2 o’clock hour, the Cubs and Diamondbacks are scheduled to play at 2:50 p.m. CDT.
