Coming off an 82-73 victory over the Washington Mystics to close out a three-game road trip, the Chicago Sky are heading back home. Not only will they raise their 2021 WNBA championship banner and receive their rings, but they will also host the Indiana Fever Tuesday evening.
The Fever started the season 2-6, losing four of their last five games. Indiana’s roster is littered with youth as five of their 12 players are rookies. NaLyssa Smith, Lexie Hull, Destanni Henderson, Queen Egbo, and Emily Engstler, all in their first WNBA season, are talented players with plenty of upside.
The team is currently in the middle of a rebuild after Tamika Catchings stepped down as Indiana Fever VP of Basketball Operations and General Manager.
As for the Sky, they have been on a roll. Candace Parker is coming off a big night where she recorded her second triple-double of her career. She is now the oldest WNBA player ever to record a triple-double (36). Additionally, Parker is only the third player to record multiple triple-doubles. There have only been 12 in the history of the WNBA.
With Kahleah Copper back in the starting lineup, the Sky should continue to keep the ball rolling. Their depth at the guard position aligns them well, as rookie Rebekah Gardner has been tremendous for the Sky. Coach Wade found himself a steal in Gardner.
Look for the Sky to roll right through this young Fever team with ease after they celebrate their 2021 championship with a ring and banner ceremony Tuesday night.
