Chicago Cubs right-handed slugger Patrick Wisdom is on a hot streak. On Monday night against the Cincinnati Reds, the third baseman homered in his fourth straight game.
Wisdom is only batting .223 on the season, but don’t let that fool you. With 10 home runs, 23 RBIs, and a .797 OPS, when Wisdom hits, he does damage. The righty is currently on pace to hit over 30 home runs and is becoming a threat in the Cubs lineup.
Could this power surge make Wisdom a potential trade candidate for the Cubs? Obviously. With the trade deadline just over two months away, it will be interesting to see what the organization decides to do with Wisdom. These next couple of weeks will be an eye-opener as to which direction Jed Hoyer and co. decide to pursue at the deadline.
For now, the Chicago Cubs look to lock down a series-opening victory in Cincinnati. Given the Reds’ struggles to date, Patrick Wisdom will likely have several more opportunities to do damage throughout the series.
