It’s always something with the Chicago White Sox. Just as the South Siders looked to be cruising to a victory over the Red Sox, Joe Kelly exited Wednesday’s game with an apparent hamstring injury.
The right-hander entered the contest in the top of the eighth inning and struck out two batters. But on the final pitch Kelly delivered, he utilized an unconventional movement when he came set. After inducing a foul tip off Franchy Cordero’s bat into Reese McGuire’s glove, Kelly appeared to favor his hamstring.
Trainers came to the mound and immediately removed Kelly from the game. Liam Hendriks entered the game to pitch the final out of the eighth inning.
Per the Chicago White Sox, Joe Kelly is dealing with left hamstring tightness. The club will evaluate him further on Thursday morning.
