The Chicago White Sox made a couple of moves on Tuesday morning before starting their three-game series in Toronto. The team placed shortstop Tim Anderson on the 10-day Injured List with a groin strain while reinstating center fielder Luis Robert from the COVID-related Injury List. It seems almost weekly that the White Sox are bringing a starter off of the IL and sending one to it as the team is beginning to become one big “End Game” meme.

Anderson suffered his injury while fielding a play in the fifth inning of the Sox 5-4 win over the Cubs in the final game of the Crosstown Series at Guaranteed Rate Field. The injury was severe enough at the time that Anderson had to be helped off of the field by teammates and trainers.

The 10-day prognosis came as a relief to some as many people thought the injury could land the All-Star shortstop on the IL for much longer.

Anderson is currently third in the American League with a .356 batting average and has been the most consistent hitter on a White Sox team that continues to struggle to score runs.

Hopefully, the return of Robert off of the COVID-19 related list will help fill the hole left by Anderson. Before his illness, Robert was beginning to come alive at the plate. His last appearance was May 22 in the double-header against the New York Yankees. He currently has a slash line of .285/.319./.757 with six home runs.

The White Sox (23-23) begin a six-game road trip Tuesday night in Toronto before heading south to take on the Tampa Bay Rays.
