Coming off a hard-fought win over the Phoenix Mercury on Tuesday, the Chicago Sky travel down south to take on a hot Atlanta Dream team.
The Dream have been on a roll after a 20-point loss to the Mystics on May 24. Since then, they have defeated Phoenix by 27 points and took home another win Wednesday against the Minnesota Lynx.
So far this season, Atlanta’s young squad ranks second in rebounds per game (36.4), fourth in steals per game (8.6), and third in three-point percentage (36.7%).
A scrappy team playing at a high level, the Dream currently hold the fourth-best record in the WNBA at 6-3. Rookie Rhyne Howard has been unbelievable so far for Atlanta. She is currently averaging 17.4 PPG, 3.8 RPG, and 1.7 SPG.
As for the Sky, they need to keep their foot on the gas. A lackadaisical early effort Tuesday against the Mercury required a hectic fourth-quarter surge to overcome. That was easily a game the Sky could have easily run away with.
Expect Azura Stevens to play in Friday night’s contest. She missed Tuesday’s game with a non-COVID-related illness.
All in all, Friday should bring about a competitive battle. The Sky are the better team, but do not sleep on the Dream.
