Will The Bears Draft Another QB In Place Of Justin Fields?

It’s ridiculous to imagine the Bears drafting Fields’ replacement.

It’s no secret that the Chicago Bears are due for a rough 2022 season. But to think they’re about to abandon the ship that is Justin Fields as their starting quarterback is just insane.

The Bears have a brand new regime heading into the 2022 season. New GM Ryan Poles and head coach Matt Eberflus have a ton of work to do. They also have a huge hole to crawl out of that the previous regime created for them. Thanks, Ryan Pace!

Fantasy Football “Gurus” TrophySmack gave their predictions for the entirety of the NFL and what they expect from your Chicago Bears is interesting.

Predicting The Chicago Bears Record

Right off the bat, I agree with TrophySmack’s low expectations. If the Bears end the 2022 season with a 4-13 record, it won’t be entirely surprising. They have a lot of holes to fill and they did in fact gut their team to an extent.

However, I don’t believe six or even seven wins could be out of reach. It’s unlikely but it’s not impossible. Furthermore, the Chicago Bears offensive line is still a gigantic question mark on the squad. But with Poles’ experience on the offensive line and his drive to fix it, they can’t be nearly as bad as TrophySmack thinks.

There’s No Way The Bears Replace Justin Fields

Could Justin Fields take too many hits? Of course. Would the Bears shelter Fields from the pain and replace him with Trevor Siemian? Maybe.

But to think the Bears will use this as their motivation for drafting Fields’ replacement is ridiculous. Justin Fields is entering his pseudo-rookie season.

Having only played in 12 games in 2021 under a coach who didn’t know what he was doing, Fields is re-learning a new offense. Luke Getsy is taking over the Chicago Bears’ offense and his experience in Green Bay proves that he’s better than Matt Nagy ever imagined he could be.

There is absolutely no chance Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus move on from Justin Fields after only one season. They have other needs to fill and if Fields isn’t the guy many fans hope he is, the Bears will use him until they can’t.

When all is said and done, the Bears will have a rough 2022 season and fans know they aren’t winning a championship any time soon. But there is no chance that the Bears’ season is so terrible that they jump ship on Justin Fields and pray they find a better quarterback in the NFL Draft.

That preview from Trophy Smack is completely idiotic. The Bears will do great this year and these reporters will have to eat their words.

He seemed to get hurt a lot last year. So it wouldn’t be surprising if they ended up needing to replace him due to injury. Maybe they would sign a quarterback who is already in the NFL but needs a home. Hopefully, it would be a good quarterback rather than someone out of the recycle bin. Drafting quarterbacks, particularly in the first round, often doesn’t end well. I find it hard to believe that he will be the Bears long-term quarterback after seeing him play last year. If the new Bears coaches can really fix him, that would be amazing. Apparently, he has gone from being a last one in and first one out college player to somebody who works extremely hard. I do wonder, though, if he were to instead look like a huge disappointment to the new coaches if they would say so at this time after so much has been invested in him or if they would say how great he’s doing anyway until he proves otherwise during this regular season.
