Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson will take the field tonight. Anderson has been out of the Sox lineup for a couple of weeks after suffering a strained right groin on May 29. But he will begin working his way back to the major league clubhouse by starting his rehab assignment with the Triple-A Charlotte Knights.

The 28-year-old was on an absolute tear before heading to the injured list. Through 40 games this season, Anderson was showing everyone how elite he is at the plate. Before his injury, the White Sox leadoff man was slashing .356/.393/.503 with five long balls, 19 RBIs, and eight stolen bases.

The Chicago White Sox season has been a letdown thus far considering how the team is performing vs. preseason expectations. When Tim Anderson was in the lineup, the Sox were 20-20. Without Anderson, the South Siders are 8-11. He provides a much-needed spark to his team through his play on the field and energetic personality. The White Sox did not clarify how long Anderson’s rehab assignment will take, but they surely hope he returns to Chicago sooner rather than later.
