Chicago Cubs’ first baseman Frank Schwindel exited early from Friday’s game against the Atlanta Braves due to lower back tightness.
In the second inning, Schwindel hit a ground ball to third base and began hustling down the line. About two-thirds of the way to first base, he pulled up gingerly and hobbled through the bag.
Trainers came out to check on Schwindel, who subsequently followed them into the dugout. When the Cubs took the field in the top of the third inning, P.J Higgins replaced Schwindel at first base.
The Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves are scoreless through three innings at Wrigley Field.
