If you missed the Chicago Bears’ press conference on Tuesday, Justin Fields had some interesting comments coming out of Halas Hall. The second-year quarterback, learning a brand new offense for the second time in as many years, is working with what he’s given.
The Bears have a brand new offense that Luke Getsy is leading. Fields praised Getsy’s efforts so far as the new offensive coordinator saying that he’s always going the extra mile to make things easier for the offense.
With a new, defensive-minded head coach in Matt Eberflus, the offense should be going through growing pains. But Justin Fields already has some qualities that we Chicago Bears fans have missed in our starting quarterback.
Justin Fields On Things ‘Clicking’
Identify issues and don’t repeat them. It seems like a simple concept. But previous Bears’ coaches and players didn’t possess the skill to do that.
When asked about having a certain level of patience with the offense not clicking right away, Fields said:
“For me, it’s just not making the same mistake twice… If you ultimately keep getting better, keep growing… you’ll be right where you want to be.”Justin Fields on balancing expectations
Besides admitting that the Chicago Bears aren’t ready to play an NFL game, Fields expressed confidence in the offense. He mentioned that he believes everyone is catching on quickly despite the coaching staff throwing the entire playbook at them.
Matt Eberflus should expect greatness from this team, even if it’s not results-oriented greatness. But growth, knowledge, and managing expectations with experience is something the Chicago Bears can accomplish in 2022.
