On Monday afternoon, before the start of the Chicago White Sox series with the Toronto Blue Jays, Rick Hahn gave an update on all the injury issues. One of the key points was on Eloy Jimenez, who’s been sidelined from big league action since April 23rd with a right hamstring injury.
Rick Hahn said that Eloy Jimenez will be the designated hitter for tomorrow’s game in Triple-A Charlotte. It is unknown yet if Jimenez being the DH will bring on a bigger move or just the organization erring on the side of caution.
Tomorrow is the first live pitching he will see since June 9th. Eloy Jimenez had a minor setback in his rehabilitation. He had to pause his rehab assignment due to “normal leg soreness”.
In his six games with Triple-A Charlotte, Jimenez is slashing .235/.316/.235. He has no home runs and hasn’t driven in any runs. In 11 games with the Chicago White Sox before his injury, Jimenez hit .222/.256/.333 with one home run and seven RBIs across 39 plate appearances.
Eloy Jimenez needs to find his power if the White Sox want to be a contender in the postseason.
