The newest member of the Chicago Bulls and 18th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, Dalen Terry, wasn’t the only topic of discussion at the Advocate Center Thursday.
In addition to waxing poetic about the 19-year-old former Arizona Wildcat who he called “a ball of energy,” general manager Marc Eversley provided insight into the team’s starting backcourt.
While rumor had it some within the organization weren’t sold on offering unrestricted free agent Zach LaVine a max contract this summer, Eversley spoke to the contrary.
And just like that, any trepidation Chicago Bulls fans had of this regime playing it cheap with the two-time All-Star should fizzle out.
Eversley’s comments on Lonzo Ball, however, were less precise.
Eversley said Ball is making progress in his recovery from the arthroscopic surgery and bone bruise that limited him to just 35 games last season. But, at the same time, Eversley couldn’t say whether or not Ball, who’s rehabbing his left knee in Los Angeles with his own trainers and the team’s performance staff, could play if games were still ongoing.
As far as Ball being ready for training camp in October, Eversley said: “I certainly hope so.”
No, that’s not a definitive answer. But considering the setbacks Lonzo Ball has endured, it is a step in the right direction.
