According to the experts, the Bulls’ selecting Dalen Terry is receiving rave reviews in terms of fit and the type of player Terry is.

Artūras Karnišovas and Marc Eversley threw most everyone for a loop when they spent the 18th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft on Dalen Terry Thursday.

The former Arizona Wildcat doesn’t offer much in the way of size or rim protection and can stand to improve his shooting — though he did nail 36.8% of his spot-up threes and made great strides from deep toward the end of last season.

But even without the fine-tuning that’s sure to come, Terry projects to contribute elsewhere.

Don’t take our word for it, though. Listen to the people who are paid to stay acquainted with amateur prospects.

Kyle Boone, CBS SPORTS

“Terry at No. 18 was maybe a bit higher than where most projected (myself included), but I’m not going to dock the grade here because of that. Because the fit is fantastic. He’s a combo guard who can handle, rebound, shoot … all-around glue guy who brings a toughness and competitiveness that Chicago fans will love. Great fit.”

Kevin O’Connor, The Ringer

“I love Dalen Terry. I love him so much. Just like Arizona fans do. And I bet Bulls fans will love him, too, just as they love Alex Caruso and Lonzo Ball. Because Terry is a hustler. That dude grinds on defense, and on offense he’s so selfless. There isn’t a moment he’s on the court that you feel he’s doing anything but trying to win.”

Kyle Irving, The Sporting News

“This was the most confusing pick in the draft to me. Let me be clear: this grade has nothing to do with Terry as a player. The 6-7 guard has a very intriguing skillset as a playmaker and defender and he will only add to a tenacious defensive backcourt with players like Lonzo Ball, Alex Caruso, and Ayo Dosunmu. I just thought the Bulls desperately needed to address a void for help in their frontcourt and they missed the mark with their only pick.”

John Fanta, Fox Sports

“The Bulls hit the home run of the teens in this draft. They needed defense. Terry will supply that, and his passing ability is super intriguing. Terry would have been a lottery pick next year. I love the high upside of Terry in Chicago. It’s a nice mix of fit and potential.”

Krysten Peek, Yahoo! Sports

“Terry elected to stay in the draft, surprising a lot of scouts. His upside is clear. He’s a long, athletic wing at 6-foot-7 and is a player who could be impactful on this Bulls roster after a year or two of development. The Bulls got a great second-round pick last year with Ayo Dosunmu and Terry can step in alongside Dosunmu on the second unit.”
