Major League Baseball announced on Monday the current All-Star voting leaders, with Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras as the easy frontrunner among all National League catchers. Leading with 1.37 million votes, it’s no surprise to Cubs fans that Contreras has been the easy choice so far to start the All-Star game.

For the season, Contreras is hitting .268 with 12 home runs, 14 doubles, 31 RBI, three stolen bases, 29 walks, and an .877 OPS. Among all NL catchers, he ranks first in runs (40), home runs, hits (62), doubles, and walks. He ranks second in OPS just behind his younger brother William Contreras from the Atlanta Braves (.904).

Braves backstop Travis d’Arnaud is second among NL catchers with almost 881,000 votes. For the season, d’Arnaud has put up solid numbers — a slash line of .269/.312/.497 with 10 home runs, 34 RBI, and 14 doubles.

The first round of voting continues until Thursday. The top vote-getter in each league at that time will be guaranteed a starting spot in the All-Star game. The next round of voting will include the top two vote-getters at each position to determine who gets the starting spot at the All-Star Game on July 19 at Dodger Stadium.
