The Fire face an uphill battle against the league-leading Philadelphia Union.

When the Chicago Fire return to Soldier Field this Wednesday, they will face an uphill task against former MLS champions and current league leaders Philadelphia Union.

The Fire could move from the bottom of the table if the team secures its second consecutive home victory at Soldier Field after defeating DC United on June 18.

Coach Ezra Hendrickson’s team has recorded the fewest number of goals — 14 tallies in 16 games — among all 29 MLS teams.

Hendrickson is calling on his team to show more character and the willingness to fight against a Philadelphia Union team that has yet to lose in 10 consecutive games.

“We have to play perfect, determined, and show character if indeed we want to win, we have just not been lucky playing at home this season but hopefully we will be able to show more in front of our home fans.”

Reports indicate Fire talisman Xherdan Shaqiri and Carlos Teran are both doubtful due to thigh and knee injuries, respectively.
