The Chicago White Sox swapped out a pair of infielders ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels. The club reinstated Yoan Moncada from the 10-day injured list and optioned Lenyn Sosa to Triple-A Charlotte.

Moncada has missed the Sox’s last 10 games due to a right hamstring strain. The 2022 campaign has been a tremendous struggle for the Cuban third baseman, who is slashing .179/.230/.292 in 113 plate appearances.

In his second-to-last game before landing on the IL, Yoan Moncada went 5-for-6 with a home run and five RBIs against the Detroit Tigers. Now that another injury setback is in the rearview, he looks to turn his season around and help the White Sox climb up the AL Central standings.

Lenyn Sosa’s first cup of coffee at the MLB level lasted a total of five days. The 22-year-old appeared in four games and recorded one hit, one walk, and two runs scored across 13 plate appearances.

The Chicago White Sox initially selected Sosa’s contract from Double-A Birmingham in the wake of Danny Mendick’s season-ending knee injury. Many observers expected him to get a longer look in the show, but that scenario will have to wait for the time being.
