Aside from re-signing Zach LaVine, the Chicago Bulls have had quite the underwhelming start to NBA free agency. The team had a list of names they were reportedly targeting, but none ended up in Chicago. A realistic option in Danilo Gallinari has been rumored for the last 24 hours. It now looks like the Bulls may miss out on him as well.
Gallinari is reportedly headed to Boston to join the Eastern Conference champions. The veteran, while one-dimensional, would have provided bench scoring and floor spacing for the Bulls. One has to think that the Bulls have a bigger plan in mind. Andre Drummond signed with the squad yesterday, a move many fans felt was underwhelming. Though, there are other options the Bulls could look into.
T.J. Warren is a young player who could be a cheap option considering he hasn’t played since 2020-21 season. The Bulls may opt to take a flier on him. Who knows? Maybe they pull off a mega trade and blow the fan base away.
But one thing is for sure, if the Chicago Bulls seriously want to compete for a title, they need to make a move. Missing out on Danilo Gallinari should be a wake-up call.
