The Chicago Blackhawks are having quite the active 2022 NHL Draft Day. After moving Alex DeBrincat prior to the draft, another trade has just gone through. The Blackhawks traded forward Kirby Dach to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for the No. 13 and No. 66 picks in this year’s draft.
Dach has endured a rough start to his NHL career. Injuries have limited him to just 152 games across parts of three seasons. He has recorded 59 points (19 goals, 40 assists) in those contests.
Rumors regarding Kirby Dach surfaced earlier in the day, but the Montreal Canadiens were not one of the reported potential trade partners. Now, the host team for the 2022 NHL Draft has acquired the 21-year-old forward as Chicago gains additional draft capital.
The Chicago Blackhawks entered Day 1 one of the 2022 NHL Draft without a first-round selection. Now, they have two: the No. 7 and No. 13 overall picks. The No. 66 overall pick is the first selection of the third round.
