The Chicago Blackhawks selected Nils Juntorp of HV71’s under-20 team in Sweden with the No. 188 overall pick in the sixth round of the 2022 NHL Draft on Friday in Montreal.

The Blackhawks acquired the pick to select Juntorp from the Carolina Hurricanes for a sixth-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound right winger scored 41 points (17 goals, 24 assists) in 44 regular-season games. He added one assist in five playoff games.

The Swedish forward is the first non-North American player selected by the Chicago Blackhawks this year.

Nils Juntorp could make the jump to North America this year and play for the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the USHL. Dubuque selected him in the seventh round of the 2022 USHL Entry Draft.
