2022 NHL Draft: Blackhawks Select Riku Tohila with No. 199 Overall Pick

The Finnish product did not appear on many scouts’ draft radars, but his size up the middle surely offers intrigue.

The Chicago Blackhawks selected Riku Tohila out of Finland with the No. 199 overall pick in the seventh round of the 2022 NHL Draft.

Tohila (6-foot-5, 190 pounds) is a right-handed center who scored 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) in 41 games for JYP U20 of SM-sarja. He did not appear on many scouts’ draft radars, but his size up the middle surely offers intrigue.

Tohila becomes the second non-North American player selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2022 NHL Draft. He joins a forward-heavy draft class, as Chicago has only used two of their 11 draft picks this year on defenseman.

With the 2022 NHL Draft now complete, Riku Tohila is the Chicago Blackhawks’ final selection this year.
