The Chicago White Sox split the four-game series against the Detroit Tigers over the weekend. They are still two games under .500 as they travel to Cleveland to take on the Guardians. With a record of 41-43, the White Sox have a huge opportunity to catch the Guardians who are only one game ahead of them in the AL Central.
This is one of the most important stretches in the Chicago White Sox schedule. With back-to-back four-game series against Cleveland and Minnesota before the All-Star break, the Sox need consecutive winning series to catch up in the AL Central.
Chicago won three of their last seven games, all against AL Central opponents. Meanwhile, the Guardians are 2-8 over their last ten games dropping their record below .500 for the first time since June 7th. At 41-42, the Guardians sit one game ahead of the White Sox and both clubs greatly need a winning series.
Tuesday’s doubleheader looks to be a crucial turning point for both the White Sox and Guardians. This will be the first of two doubleheaders the two clubs will play this month.
