The Chicago Cubs finish the first half of the season with a six-game homestand, starting with a two-game set against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday.
The Cubs (34-52) will follow their series against the Orioles (43-44) with a four-game set against the New York Mets (54-33).
Chicago showed some fight in a four-game road sweep against the NL-leading Los Angeles Dodgers this past weekend. The Cubs kept every game within at least two runs and pushed the second game to extra innings (4-3 loss). The North Siders had won two of three against the Milwaukee Brewers and seven of their past 10 heading into the series in Los Angeles.
The Orioles (43-44) are just below .500 in the toughest AL division. Baltimore is on a tear with eight straight wins: one at Minnesota, a three-game sweep of Texas, and a four-game sweep of the Angels at home. Most of the Orioles’ wins during this stretch have been low-scoring games.
