In the end, Danilo Gallinari’s history with Billy Donovan and Arturas Karnisovas was not enough bait to lure him into a Chicago Bulls jersey.
Citing his childhood fanaticism with the Celtics, Gallinari, who played under Donovan in Oklahoma City two seasons ago and spent the better part of his career with a Nuggets franchise that also employed Karnisovas, signed a two-year, $13.2 million deal with Boston Tuesday.
And in choosing the defending Eastern Conference champions, the 14-year vet left the larger role and additional funds the Bulls reportedly promised him on the table.
Still, Danilo Gallinari shunning the Chicago Bulls doesn’t sting nearly as much as him doing so for a conference foe who also acquired the oft-injured-but-nonetheless-dangerous Malcolm Brogdon this summer.
