On Wednesday, the Chicago Cubs announced a number of updates regarding injured players. Updates include Daniel Norris’ activation, Ethan Roberts successfully undergoing Tommy John surgery, Nick Madrigal being re-evaluated, and Frank Schwindel continuing his road back.
To start, Norris’ activation means an arm returns to Iowa. In this case, Matt Swarmer has been sent back to Triple-A. Swarmer pitched to a 5.03 ERA in 11 appearances, including five stars. Norris’ return also returns another lefty to the Cubs’ bullpen.
Unfortunately for Ethan Roberts, news broke three weeks ago that the young righty was going to need Tommy John Surgery. As reported by Jordan Bastian and the Cubs, the surgery was a success down in Arlington, TX.
As for Nick Madrigal, it appears things are looking up. After beginning his initial rehab start, Madrigal suffered a setback. However, it appears that things might improve for the second basemen and in a week, he can resume his rehab stint.
Finally, Frank Schwindel is playing once again for Triple-A Iowa. After starting his rehab stint last Friday, Frank the Tank seems to be progressing. If he continues to look healthy, we should see Schwindel back at Wrigley Field soon.
