The Chicago Blackhawks are making another move in free agency that involves a familiar face. Forward Dylan Sikura will return to Chicago on a one-year, two-way deal. The contract carries a $750K salary cap hit.
Sikura began his career with the Blackhawks, who selected him in the sixth round (No. 178 overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft. The Northeastern University product played 47 games over parts of three seasons for Chicago, recording 14 points (one goal, 13 assists).
The Blackhawks then traded Sikura to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for Brandon Pirri in September 2020. He scored two goals in six games for Vegas during the COVID-shortened 2021 season.
Sikura moved on to the Colorado Avalanche, signing a one-year, two-way deal prior to the 2021-22 campaign. He appeared in just five games for the Avalanche and recorded one assist. Sikura spent most of last season at the AHL level, where he excelled with 73 points (33 goals, 40 assists) in 60 games.
Dylan Sikura becomes the sixth forward to sign with the Chicago Blackhawks since free agency opened Wednesday. He joins Max Domi, Andreas Athanasiou, Colin Blackwell, Luke Philp, and Brett Seney.
