Prior to Friday night’s contest between the Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins, Sox manager Tony La Russa provided another update on the injured Eloy Jimenez. After stating on Thursday that Jimenez could potentially return to the lineup sometime this weekend, it now appears that he is unlikely to do so.
Jimenez, who had just returned from the IL after suffering a hamstring injury earlier this season, exited Wednesday’s ballgame early after running down a fly ball in left field. The 25-year-old slugger has only appeared in 19 games for the White Sox thus far during the 2022 season. In those contests, Jimenez is slashing .197/.239/.303 with just two home runs, one double, and 13 RBIs.
It is unknown if this most recent injury will force Eloy Jimenez back to the injured list. AJ Pollock will play left field for the Chicago White Sox Friday night against the Twins.
