The Chicago Fire wrap up their three-match homestand when they host the CONCACAF champions Seattle Sounders on Saturday at Soldier Field.
Jhon Durán, who is only 18, scored twice to lead the Fire (5-10-5, 20 points) to a 2-0 win against Toronto FC on Wednesday. Chicago goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina, also 18, made two saves for his eighth clean sheet this season. It was Chicago’s third win in its past 16 games.
Seattle (8-9-2, 26 points) has lost three of its past four, including two straight shutout losses to Portland and Nashville. Center back Xavier Arreaga returned last week for 14 minutes of play after missing almost three weeks with an injury for the Sounders. All-Stars Jordan Morris and Raul Ruidiaz lead the Seattle attack with five goals each.
Ruidiaz, however, sat out against Nashville due to a hamstring injury. Fredy Montero or Will Bruin could step into Ruidiaz’s spot if he sits out in Chicago.
It is the first match between the two sides since Chicago’s 2-1 win in the group stage of the MLS is Back tournament in July 2020.
