The Chicago White Sox had one representative in the 2022 MLB Futures Game: outfielder Oscar Colas. The 23-year-old, who was recently promoted from High-A Winston-Salem to Double-A Birmingham, entered the game as a pinch-hitter for Gunnar Henderson in the top of the fourth inning.
Colas finished the day 1-2 at the plate, but the real highlight of his day was an outstanding diving catch in centerfield that robbed Dusty Baker’s son, Darren Baker, of a hit.
Oscar Colas has continued to swing a hot bat since his promotion to Double-A Birmingham. He has registered five hits, including two doubles, in three games with the Barons. If he continues to progress through the system, his left-handed bat will be a welcomed addition to the Chicago White Sox’s future outfield.
