The Chicago White Sox continue to remain pitching-heavy in their approach to the 2022 MLB Draft. With the No. 161 overall pick in the fifth round, the White Sox selected left-hander Tyler Schweitzer from Ball State University.
Schweitzer is a 6-foot, 185 lb hurler from Fishers, Ind. MLB.com ranked him as the No. 210 prospect in this year’s draft class.
In his three seasons at Ball State, Schweitzer has accumulated a 14-2 record, 3.39 ERA, and 176 strikeouts across 135.1 innings. During the 2022 season, he pitched to an 11-2 record and 2.65 ERA with 112 strikeouts and 30 walks in 91.2 innings across 17 games (16 starts). Those figures helped the southpaw earn MAC Pitcher of the Year honors.
