How many games will the Chicago Bears win in 2022? Probably not enough to merit a playoff birth but the team in place isn’t as bad as some might think. The Madden 23 rankings for wide receivers are out in the open for all to see and they are not kind to the Chicago Bears.
Madden 23 Wide Receiver Rankings
The top 10 wide receivers in terms of overall ranking in Madden are as expected:
- Davante Adams – 99
- Cooper Kupp – 98
- Tyreek Hill – 97
- DeAndre Hopkins – 96
- Stefon Diggs – 95
- Justin Jefferson – 93
- Mike Evans – 92
- Keenan Allen – 91
- Terry McLaurin – 91
- Amari Cooper – 90
Not only do the Chicago Bears not have a receiver in the top 10, but they don’t have one in the top 50! The list above is about as accurate as expected. There are a few gripes like leaving Deebo Samuel out of the top 10 and Ja’Marr Chase sporting a disrespectful 87 overall ranking.
But one of the most egregious decisions in Madden rankings came at the behest of Darnell Mooney who ranks 79 overall.
Chicago Bears Wide Receivers Madden Rankings
- Darnell Mooney – 79
- Byron Pringle – 75
- Dante Pettis – 74
- Tajae Sharpe – 70
- David Moore – 69
- Velus Jones Jr. – 69
- Equanimeous St. Brown – 68
- Dazz Newsome – 67
- Nsimba Webster – 67
- Isaiah Coulter – 66
The Bears don’t have a real standout player in their receiving corps but Darnell Mooney is definitely better than a 79 overall ranking. Mooney said early last month that he expects a big season in his third year with the Chicago Bears. He showed a lot of promise last season and has only gotten better.
Mooney built a nice rapport with Justin Fields last year and has continued it this offseason. They will only get better as time will tell and they work together building their relationship further and molding Mooney into a true No. 1 wide receiver in the NFL.
Justin Fields is entering his second season but with a brand new regime leading the way. There will surely be growing pains there but finally, Fields will be in good hands with the addition of offensive coordinator Luke Getsy. So they won’t be that bad.
Wide Receivers In The NFC North
If Bears fans want to take anything out of the Madden 23 rankings, it’s that the rest of the NFC North doesn’t rank very high when it comes to wide receivers.
With Davante Adams leaving Green Bay, the Packers don’t have a lot of skill left at the position. Throughout the rest of the NFC North, it’s hard to find any superstars at the receiver position other than Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen.
But right underneath them, is Darnell Mooney and that is cool and tough. When the Packers’ top receiving option is Sammy Watkins and the Lions are relying on Amon-Ra St. Brown to catch passes, the Bears are in better shape than people think.
The Madden rankings are down on the Bears and we can likely expect the rest of the reveals to be similar to this one. However, they can berate Chicago all they want. In the grand scheme of things, the Bears won’t be that bad in 2022 and anyone playing Madden knows it takes skill to win in that game.
The most skilled Madden player can take the 0-16 Detroit Lions from 2008 and win a blowout game over a lesser player with the unbeaten 2007 New England Patriots. Well, theoretically at least.
