NBA Summer League action is in the books and training camp is on the horizon. This time of year means players are settling back into their routines. Fresh off signing a five-year, $215.2 million contract, Chicago Bulls’ superstar Zach LaVine is no different.
The two-time All-Star is back in the gym and dunking with the authority and explosiveness he lacked most of last season. Knee issues plagued LaVine during the second half of the 2021-22 campaign, and though he was able to play through it, he just wasn’t as quick with his first move. That twitch is key for LaVine in getting separation on his shot or having a one-step head start on a drive to the basket.
Seeing LaVine get back to the grind gives Bulls fans hope that he will be at full strength, especially while Lonzo Ball is still struggling with knee issues of his own. Missing Ball to begin the season would be a hit to the team, but a LaVine absence would be lethal.
Off the court, Zach LaVine has been active as well. He recently donated backpacks to current NBA free agent Glenn Robinson III’s Back to School Giveaway initiative. Robinson III is a former Minnesota Timberwolves teammate of LaVine’s. It also works out that Robinson III was born in Chicago’s nearby neighbor, Gary, Indiana, where the drive is taking place.
This charitable act shows LaVine is putting his max contract to good use as he gives back to the community. He’s a great former teammate and a great role model. What more could you ask for from the star centerpiece of the Chicago Bulls?
