After clinching a playoff berth with a 78-74 win over the Seattle Storm on Wednesday, the Chicago Sky will return to action against the Dallas Wings.
Friday’s game will be the second meeting between the two teams this season. In the first contest, which took place last Saturday, the Sky took down the Wings in Dallas 89-81. Kahleah Copper and Emma Meesseman combined for 46 points and 22 rebounds.
The Wings are hovering in the playoff bubble with an 11-14 record after winning four of their last 10 games. Led by All-Star guard Arike Ogunbowale, Dallas is a scrappy bunch. The Wings have some wins over the league’s best, having defeated Washington once and Connecticut twice.
The Wings will be without forward Satou Sabally, who is dealing with an ankle injury.
As for the Sky, star point guard Courtney Vandersloot will miss her third straight game due to concussion protocols. The All-Star has been sidelined since taking a tough fall against the Sparks on July 14. Vandersloot’s absence means Julie Allemand will get the nod to get her third straight start.
The 26-year-old guard has done a solid job facilitating in her last two games. Her best outing was against the Wings on July 16 when she recorded eight assists, two steals, and two blocks.
