Chicago Bulls guard and homegrown product Ayo Dosunmu hosted a basketball clinic and celebration of life for a fallen friend on the city’s South Side Saturday.
The event took place at Metcalfe (Ralph) Park, in the Grand Boulevard community.
Dosunmu’s childhood friend lost his life to gun violence, something the Bulls spoke out against following the mass shooting in Highland Park earlier this month.
Dosunmu, who hails from Englewood, took part in a peace walk in Auburn Gresham last month. Mayor Lori Lightfoot attended the rally, which was organized by St. Sabina Church, as well.
“I know I’m sick and tired of this feeling and this sadness,” Ayo Dosunmu said. ”I’m sure you are, too. We have to continue to do the work. We have to continue to stay together and get better as a community.”
