Fans have been calling for a very popular Championship to be part of All Elite Wrestling since the start of the company in 2019. Those calls were answered in the latest installment of AEW Dynamite. The AEW World Trios Championships are finally here and Champions will be crowned soon.
Here’s how it will work. A tournament will take place over the next few weeks leading up to the finals on the next PPV All Out on September 4.
This leaves fans with several questions, many of which will likely be answered next week on Dynamite.
The tournament should definitely start next week. That would give AEW five weeks before the PPV, which should be plenty of time to have an adequate number of teams compete. But everything is up in the air until AEW releases the official format.
If the rumor from over a year holds true, Tony Khan has been holding onto these championships in anticipation of Kenny Omega’s return. The latest rumblings indicate that could happen in the very near future.
Furthermore, the look of these championships is a little different from other AEW championships. But they have an old-school vibe to them, which is a nice touch.
AEW fans should be in for a very interesting next few weeks leading up to All Out.
