With training camp well underway for the Chicago Bears, it appears a roster move is potentially on the horizon. According to reports, the Bears are shopping 2021 second-round pick Teven Jenkins, seemingly suggesting he isn’t gelling with the new coaching staff.
In 2021, former Bears GM Ryan Pace traded up to acquire the Oklahoma State product. However, his bad back required surgery and he missed majority of his rookie campaign. Entering this season, it felt as if Jenkins was a guarantee to start on the line. Now, it appears he’s not even a guarantee to remain in Chicago.
Jenkins has a ton of talent. Many thought he would be a first-round pick in 2021, but slipped to the second round due to the injury. However, if there is a disconnect between the coaching staff and Jenkins, then perhaps a change of scenery is the right move. That said, the assets used to acquire Jenkins likely won’t be replaced by a trade at this point.
The big tackle missed practice four days ago for the first time, sparking a lot of speculation. That said, the following days rumors started regarding a disconnect between Jenkins and the coaching staff. Whether those rumors are true or not, it appears something is going on that could lead the big offensive tackle out of the Windy City.
