With MLB’s trade deadline being all the talk in the baseball world right now, Taylor McGregor of the Marquee Sports Network has reported a couple of notable Chicago Cubs roster notes that we should look at. Starting pitcher Wade Miley has been on the injured list since early June with a shoulder injury. It’s his second IL stint this season, but according to McGregor, Miley is on track for a potential return soon.
Miley will throw for the Triple-A Iowa Cubs Wednesday, marking his second recent rehab start. He previously tossed a rough 2.1 innings with the South Bend Cubs on July 29.
The Cubs acquired Miley off waivers from the Reds in the offseason with hopes of filling innings in a rotation with several question marks surrounding it. Many hoped it would turn into a sign-and-trade type of deal by the deadline, but with Miley only pitching 19 innings so far this season, that wasn’t the case. In four starts this season, Miley owns a 2.84 ERA with 12 strikeouts, eight walks, a 1.211 WHIP, and 15 hits in 19 innings.
If all goes well, Wade Miley could return to the Chicago Cubs’ rotation in the near future.
