Chicago Fire striker Jhon Duran has apologized profusely to teammates, coaches, and fans after his distasteful remarks on Instagram saying “I would leave” when quizzed by a fan.
In a Q-and-A on his Instagram page, the Columbian striker was asked if he would be willing to leave Chicago if he got a shot with another club.
The 18-year-old answered, “Yes I would leave.”
Duran’s remarks obviously irritated fans, with some calling for him to be cut. The 18-year-old took to Twitter to issue an apology.
“To all Chicago Fire fans! Please accept my sincerest apologies for my reckless Instagram stories. Now I understand that my words could have been interpreted in a different context than what I meant. I am very happy to be in Chicago Fire and in a league like this #cf97,” Duran wrote on Twitter.
It’s still unclear if the Chicago Fire will punish Jhon Duran or possibly trade him when the transfer window opens.
