Chicago White Sox right-handed pitcher Dylan Cease was named the American League Pitcher of the Month today. This is the second straight month that Cease has won the award. With the consecutive awards, he becomes the first pitcher in White Sox history to accomplish such a feat.

In July, Cease started in six games. He posted a 5-1 record in 35.2 innings pitched. The dynamic righty began July with a 2.51 ERA and lowered it to 2.01 by month’s end. In 35.2 innings pitched, Cease only allowed 24 hits and only three earned runs. Simply put, he’s been electric for the White Sox this season.

Cease is making a solid case to be included in the AL Cy Young race. He currently leads MLB in K/9 at 12.42. The 26-year-old ranks second in MLB in strikeouts with 161 and has the third-lowest ERA in the game. It’s safe to say he is nearing elite-level status.

Beyond the stat sheet, Dylan Cease has been a consistently dominant presence for the Chicago White Sox in what has been a lackluster season thus far.
