The Chicago Blackhawks and Goose Island Beer Co. are bringing a new brew to the Windy City this fall. The team announced Thursday via social media that a Goose Island Blackhawks Pale Ale will debut in October.
The video teaser features Hall of Fame forward Denis Savard driving a Goose Island delivery van with a Blackhawks Pale Ale logo plastered on the side. Savard then calls upon former Hawks’ defenseman Chris Chelios to hurry up loading the van, which Chelios does in erratic and humorous fashion.
The clip ends with an announcement of a special pouring this Thursday-Sunday at Windy City Smokeout, a country music festival located outside the United Center.
I must say, the can design looks incredible. For some time now, the Chicago Blackhawks Store has sold a New Era “Neon Lights” hat featuring the same logo that appears in the promo video. Plastered on a matte black can, it looks even better.
As for the specifics of the Blackhawks Pale Ale, we don’t know much yet aside from the can design and launch month. But if past Goose Island-Chicago sports collabs are any indicator, it should be a tasty brew.
From 2019-2021, Goose Island teamed up with the Chicago White Sox to create a Golden Ale. As a die-hard South Sider, I can attest that it was flavorful but not too heavy. The Chicago-based brewery even churned out retro cans ahead of the White Sox playoff run in 2021.
Check back for further updates on Goose Island’s Blackhawks Pale Ale as they become available. You’ll need plenty of them to get through a rebuilding season on the ice.
