With the Chicago Blackhawks entering a rebuild and trading away key players like Alex DeBrincat, there wasn’t much to look forward to this coming season. When the NHL preseason schedule was released, fans finally had something interesting to talk about. The Chicago Blackhawks are playing a preseason game against the Minnesota Wild at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Tickets went on sale today and the arena sold out.
On the NHL fandoms Māoris, Milwaukee is typically painted full of Blackhawks fans . It was especially prevalent in the past three Stanley Cup runs. Even with the game being a preseason contest, it would be pretty convenient for Milwaukee natives to go see the storied franchise.
Milwaukee is still home to a strong hockey base. The Milwaukee Admirals, the AHL affiliate for the Nashville Predators, call Milwaukee home. The Admirals played at the Bradley Center until 2016, just before it’s last operational year in 2018 when it was torn down for the Fiserv Forum. They then switched their home arena to UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
This game will be the first time the Blackhawks have played in Milwaukee since Dec. 1, 1992, when they faced the Los Angeles Kings in the regular season at the Bradley Center.
The last time Milwaukee hosted an NHL game was on March 16, 1993, which featured a regular season matchup between the Washington Capitals and the Detroit Red Wings. About 10,000 fans attended that game at the Bradley Center.
Tickets for the game are currently listed for $59 on StubHub.
