Scottie Pippen couldn’t resist. During an interview with Rob Schaefer on the latest episode of the Bulls Talk Podcast, the Chicago Bulls great seemed set on ignoring the discussion Draymond Green sparked three weeks ago.
“I’m going to let Draymond Green talk,” Pippen said of Green, who tweeted about how his 2017 Warriors team would’ve blown out the ‘98 Bulls. “He’s trying to pump his podcast up, so let him say whatever he wants.”
A few seconds later, Pippen steered the conversation in a different direction.
“Just put this out there. The best team to win a championship is the ‘96 Bulls. Send that to Draymond.”
Schaefer then asked Pippen what made that team great, to which the six-time champion offered a mic-dropping two-word response.
“Our record.”
Of course, Green’s Warriors won 73 regular-season games in 2016 to eclipse the bar the Chicago Bulls set 18 years earlier. But in losing to the Cavs in Game 7 of that year’s NBA Finals, Golden State failed to put the cherry on top of what would’ve been a truly all-time great season.
And so now the world awaits Green’s rebuttal.
Stay tuned.
