The news just keeps getting worse as the Bears have a full-blown outbreak of COVID-19 ravaging Halas Hall. They already have Mario Edwards Jr., Eddie Goldman, Larry Borom, and all three of their coordinators on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Now, they've added another wave of names including Allen Robinson to the Reserve/COVID-19 list.
Jesse James and Eddie Jackson are the two players that affect the Bears the most on this list. James and Justin Fields have built a nice rapport so far this season and his utilization will be missed if he does indeed sit out Monday night against Minnesota.
Chicago is already down a few bodies on the defensive side of the ball with DeAndre Houston-Carson out for the season with an injury. Now with Eddie Jackson on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, the Bears' secondary is a shell of its former self.
There are 18 total players not practicing for the Bears today. Seven players, according to Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times, are out with non-COVID illnesses and five are out due to injury. The other six were added to the Reserve/COVID-19 list.
The Bears announced this flurry of moves with injuries, illnesses, and COVID-19 but have also signed a defensive lineman.
The Bears signed Auzoyah Alufohai, who played in three games for the Houston Texans in 2020. He managed one assisted tackle in the three-game span.
The Chicago Bears have a serious problem. The outbreak going through the organization puts their Monday Night Football matchup with the Vikings at risk and they could very well forfeit the game. If they can't get their team in order, the NFL may see its first forfeit of the season due to COVID-19.
