On Tuesday, Alabama hosted its annual college pro days. All draft-eligible Crimson Tide players were in attendance to show off their skills, including potential first-round pick and Heisman Trophy Finalist Mac Jones. The award-winning quarterback put together an impressive showing in front of numerous representatives around the league. Those representatives included Chicago Bears' offensive coordinator Bill Lazor and quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo.
The Chicago Bears currently hold the 20th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, which can be seen as a longshot to get a top quarterback. However, the quarterback draft class is significantly deeper than in recent years and it's believed that Jones may be the fifth quarterback off the board. Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, and Trey Lance are all highly touted prospects. It should also be noted that Bears' general manager Ryan Pace has been no stranger to draft day trades.
In his junior season at Alabama, Jones won a National Championship while recording 41 touchdowns and 4,500 yards through the air along the way. He also limited turnovers, throwing just four interceptions all season. In a normal year, one could expect Jones to be at the top of most quarterback draft boards, as either the 1A or 1B selection.
With the Bears attending Jones' workout and their appearance at Trey Lance's pro day, expect their quarterback tour to just be getting started. Justin Fields' pro day takes place on March 30th and Zach Wilson's is scheduled for the 26th.
