The Chicago Bears released their inactives list prior to a Week 3 showdown with the Houston Texans. Six players were on it. On the offensive side, WR Velus Jones Jr., Ryan Griffin, and OL Ja’Trye Carter won't suit up. DB Jaylon Johnson, DB Dane Cruikshank, and LB Matt Adams will be missing from the Bears' defense.

Jaylon Johnson

Jaylon Johnson is the most notable name on this list. He has been battling a quad injury all week. Johnson was limited Thursday and didn’t practice on Friday. It's not a good sign that Johnson’s status progressively got worse.

Rookies Jaquan Brisker and Kyler Gordon will have to step up to fill the void. Brisker has gotten off to a solid start with 11 tackles so far this year. Gordon, on the other hand, has not looked good in coverage.

Velus Jones Jr.

Velus Jones Jr. still has yet to suit up for game action this year. He is battling a hamstring injury. In previous weeks, he did not participate in practice. The rookie was limited this week. Getting his speed in the mix will be a lift for the Chicago Bears in the coming weeks.

Roquan Smith

A welcome development for Chicago, Roquan Smith is NOT on the inactive list. He has been given the go-ahead to suit up and will play against the Texans, according to Ian Rapoport. His leadership and play will be needed if the Bears aspire to get back in the win column.
