The Chicago Bears have added some depth to the offensive tackle position with the signing of former Packers' second-round draft pick Jason Spriggs to a one-year deal.
The Packers traded up in the 2016 draft to select Spriggs, who played college football at Indiana. While he was a higher-round prospect coming out of college, he has not yet lived up to expectations. He spent all of 2019 on injured reserve but played 13 games in 2018, only two of which he started.
While this is primarily a depth signing for the Bears, bringing in any former second-round pick has the potential to be a low-risk, high reward signing. Hopefully, Spriggs can live up to that second-round potential in Chicago.
