Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy spoke with the media ahead of practice on Thursday. The fourth-year head coach provided an update on the current state of the team.

Injuries and Returns

First of all, Nagy spoke in length about the ailments plaguing the Bears. In good news, the Bears will get Justin Fields (groin) and Larry Borom (concussion) back. Also, Jason Peters cleared COVID-19 protocol, after signing with the Bears, and will make his debut.

However, Nagy did mention that they will be cautious with Fields today despite today's practice being light in nature.

Additionally, the HC did not provide any positive updates on any of the other injuries. Furthermore, he did say that wide receiver Chris Lacy was out from practice.

Competition at Left Tackle

Since delivering the Teven Jenkins' surgery news yesterday, Nagy and the Bears will have to recalibrate at left tackle. Now, they have Jason Peters in the fold along with Larry Borom and Elijah Wilkinson.

As a result of Borom's return, Nagy says the 2021 fifth-round pick will compete at left tackle. While Peters was brought in to help, outside of the veteran, Borom does have the most experience on the roster playing left tackle.

Accordingly, the Bears will try and ease the 39-year-old left tackle into the swing of things. Therefore, Peters will play sparingly on Saturday per Matt Nagy. All despite the fact that the veteran tackle is practicing today.

Andy Dalton/Justin Fields Plan

Even though Justin Fields is a nursing a groin injury, Matt Nagy says the plan is to play him on Saturday against the Bills.

However, the caveat to the fans expecting to see a lot of Fields is Andy Dalton. Who is, allegedly, playing a quarter and a half on Saturday against Buffalo.

Mitch Trubisky Return (vs. Justin Fields?)

Although Buffalo named Mitchell Trubisky the starter against Chicago, it'll be interesting to see how much playing time he gets, especially with Andy Dalton likely starting for the Bears. In fact, the ex-Bears QB's playing time should be of interest to Bears fans since there is a potential Fields-Trubisky showdown waiting in the wings. Nevertheless, this could be the closure Bears fans finally need with Fields taking the field on Saturday against Trubisky and the Bills.

Similarly, the Bears HC was asked about the team's 2017 first-round pick. Hence, he had the following to say about the QB:

This makes Saturday's game between the two teams must watch TV. At least, if you're a Bears fan.
